Kids Love Thatch Lights

Andrew Johntson is the designer and founder of Thatch. The colourful range of Blossom and Blossoming light shades are becoming popular in kids bedrooms and play centers. Recently Andrew kindly donated a bunch of his light shades to Mt Eden Kids @ Play Centre in Auckland.

The recent donation has allowed the not for profit organisation to replace their existing lampshades with big, colourful, blossoming lights.

The amazing shift tilt camera effect

If you believe in God then this is his view of the world as we all go about our business on this giant model set. Keith Loutit must be an angel or have one long ladder, prepare to be amazed by his ‘shift tilt’ videos. Respect.

Epic Sunset

Last night we worked late and we were rewarded with an epic Kingsland sunset… see more photos on our flickr page.

The day before a cloud shaped like nz floated past too.

We know this finished a while back, but in case you have not seen the winners, check them out. We liked the rubix and the fish tank best.

Win over $300 of Bellerby

Join Happy as Larry (a modern day robinhood) before end of April and go in the draw to win loads of free stuff. One of the giveaways this month is more than $300 of Bellerby clothing from endemicworld.com. Happy as Larry is word of mouth and anonymous.

People and businesses give Larry stuff to giveaway. It’s a “why not?” project aimed at making people smile.

Josh Keyes Paintings

Someone twittered this artist the other day. Thought it was cool. Dogs and whales would probably get on well I reckon.

Check out more Josh Keyes paintings.

Creative People's Centre

The Depot Artspace in Devonport, Auckland has been a hive of community art & creativity since…. since I was a wee nipper skating the Devonport New World car park. Some of our countries most respected & successful musicians/artists have emerged from that place. (Rob TuckerCinzah Merkins The white birds and Lemons, The Checks…)

Recently the Creative People’s Centre has emerged as an online resource and real community for people in the creative industries. It’s not a new idea, The Big Idea comes to mind,  but that has become a job listing site, light on rich useful content that the creative industry needs so badly.

What makes the Creative People’s Centre (a.k.a cpc) so unique is its extensive expereince around helping creative people with stuff most creative people find hard to do. Like legal stuff, marketing stuff, financial stuff…

The website has only been live for a couple of months and the main focus at the moment is the Arts Law section which holds a range of different legal fact sheets. The content is primarily focused on the music industry at the moment and they’ll be rolling out fact sheets and resource posts on other areas of the creative industries over the coming months.

Offline they run regular seminars and workshops for artists at The Depot. All the events can be found on the website along with some great recordings of their previous seminars (what a good idea, perfect if you can’t make an event but really want to get the info).

They are looking for people to get involved with the site so if anybody wants to write an article for the site then they can just get in touch.
