The Depot Artspace in Devonport, Auckland has been a hive of community art & creativity since…. since I was a wee nipper skating the Devonport New World car park. Some of our countries most respected & successful musicians/artists have emerged from that place. (Rob Tucker, Cinzah Merkins The white birds and Lemons, The Checks…)
Recently the Creative People’s Centre has emerged as an online resource and real community for people in the creative industries. It’s not a new idea, The Big Idea comes to mind, but that has become a job listing site, light on rich useful content that the creative industry needs so badly.

What makes the Creative People’s Centre (a.k.a cpc) so unique is its extensive expereince around helping creative people with stuff most creative people find hard to do. Like legal stuff, marketing stuff, financial stuff…
The website has only been live for a couple of months and the main focus at the moment is the Arts Law section which holds a range of different legal fact sheets. The content is primarily focused on the music industry at the moment and they’ll be rolling out fact sheets and resource posts on other areas of the creative industries over the coming months.

Offline they run regular seminars and workshops for artists at The Depot. All the events can be found on the website along with some great recordings of their previous seminars (what a good idea, perfect if you can’t make an event but really want to get the info).
They are looking for people to get involved with the site so if anybody wants to write an article for the site then they can just get in touch.
