Don't believe the type

So after we posted about typeshed11 this morning, we had a few brain farts (as you do) and had an idea for a t-shirt to wear to the event to start a conversation. John from Studio Alexander whipped this up in 50 seconds… We will send it to typeshed and see what they think. I know I want one.

What we are listening to this summer?

At endemicworld.com we have music playing pretty much all day. People come in here and often comment on the tunes playing. The good beats keep us charging and having fun. So thought we would share what we are listening to these days.

We listen to [business:base fm] by streaming it online. Its’ our main music feed. We miss Tommy Flowers breakfast show but can’t get enough of their dancehall, hiphop reggae and dubstep. They even have a web cam so you can watch the DJ. It has bugger all ads and is not filed with talk, just sweet tunes.

We also listen to [business:kfm]. These guys broadcast out of the teaculture on K’road and this is as underground as radio gets. But the music variety and DJ quality is high. Stream it here. No morning is complete without “Breakfast of Champions” with Morning Steppa.

Another way to get some good tunes is to check out the student radio stations around the world. Edinburgh uni has a cool one called Fresh Air. And Austria has FM4 which has a few english shows.

Happy ears.

Sir Terence Conran’s apparent statement when he was quizzed last week about opening a new restaurant / hotel in London in a recession.

’Perhaps believing in good design is like believing in God. It makes you an optimist.’

Passing of a pioneer

Earlier this week Bill Haythornthwaite passed away. He was a New Zealand advertising and design pioneer who was perhaps best known for his work on the Teal airline identity and poster campaigns.
