African Odyssey on the news

African Odyssey is the story of four kiwi mates who rode motorbikes from Capetown to London. No corporate sponsor, no camera crew, no changing room, no expensive equipment, just raw adventure New Zealand style.

They made their trip into a documentary that premiers in their hometown of Whakatane this Saturday and Sunday (both shows have sold out). Last night their story was on nightline.

They will be showing the documentary in Wellington and Auckland in July and their DVD and t-shirts will be available on endemicworld.com soon.

White Fungus Magazine reviewed as one of the best!

White Fungus Magazine got a great review by Mark Amery in the Dominion Post last week. It was picked out as one of the few he thought were truly quality art publications and stating “more publications like this please”, after shredding many others. Issue 9 will be available soon…

Nice work Ron Hanson and the crew at White Fungus Magazine.

Vienna street art…..dopesauce

New Zealand has a low tolerance for street art of any kind. Which is a great shame because we miss out on FREE art all around us. This was a stencil I found in Vienna. I like the detail and addition of the person on the seat. I just want to jump on and ride away.

Here is some New Zealand street art

A view from our office….

Just wanted to share our office view. The setting light often goes all orange in winter which makes the two church spires look really cool. We will show you the view from the top of Mt Victoria some time too.

If your thinking of something to do or wondering how to re-use your cardboard boxes. Take them up here and race down this hill…its madness and once again an essential staff bonding exercise and design career builder.

Video that will blow your mind

MUTO a wall-painted animation by BLU from blu on Vimeo.

I have been watching this over and over. If 80,918 people watched it yesterday it must be good. You can thank John from Studio Alexander for discovering this one. Cheers mate. It made Monday awesome.

White Fungus editor Ron Hanson on National Radio

White Fungus magazine from Wellington is worth your time and time again. I am still dipping into parts of issue 8. I want to cut out some of the art and put it on my wall, but I also want to keep every issue forever as I know they will become something special in New Zealand’s creative history.

Two Saturdays ago the editor Ron Hanson was interviewed by Kim Hill on National Radio. Even I, as a stockist of the magazine, found out so much about its history. The image above is the real can of White Fungus Ron and his brother discovered when living in Taiwan teaching English for millions of dollars.

Check out this cult publication here or read the blog of whitefungus

Studio Alexander go…..bowling

Studio Alexander went bowling last weekend and sent us some pictures of their hero performance. Thats right, designers by day, extreme bowlers by night. Ed poses for the neon shot of glory.

Next time your choosing a team building or staff bonding session, drop the high ropes and go dress up bowling. Neon poses and kissing pink ten pins will keep your workers happy…see! Its essential design career stuff.

Threaded Magazine Issue 5

Threaded Magazine launched Issue 5 last night. Thanks to Threaded for the Red Bull, wine and friendly atmosphere. This issue is themed “For the Love of it”. Threaded says “Hey, if you’re not doing it for the love of it, what on earth are you doing it for?” We couldn’t agree more. 12 hour days in front of your macbook would suck without love involved.

Once again its packed full of humming local talent. Art, Graphic Design, Fashion, Illustration…. you know the deal. Get one today…. and be cool.

If you don’t know Rob Tucker then discover his work here and check out the book from his last show. He visted us recently and drew something for us to test video on our blog. Thanks Rob.

Sorry about the dodgy quality, our 1995 Sony handycam doesn’t quite cut the mustard. If you have video that you want posted here, tell us and join our vimeo community

Origami meets plastic

Rachel Young has brought ancient origami and modern materials together to create Fold. Each product she hand-folds herself. A level of hands on skill that makes us all jealous. It also shows you can make wonderful products without laser cutting.

Her creations include bright coloured, strong, light-weight bowls and lamp shades. We are excited about having Fold as a new supplier at endemicworld.com and look forward to seeing what other origami inspired creations she designs in the future.

Meet Rachel and view her profile.

Check out her amazing origami bowls.

Leave a comment and tell Fold what you would like to see created using Origami folding techniques.

Machines we will never have.

This photo was sent by some friends in Germany. If only we could get rid of all the ugly soft drink machines and replace them with these cool ones. We are not big chewer’s at endemicworld.com but if we had one of these at work Im sure we would be.

I wonder if it still works when its frozen with snow and ice? Can you still chew the gum? My dictionary says

I also found a flickr page with some other cool “Frische Basar”. We are now official followers.
